We're incredibly proud to share that Scayl Founder Scott Woodhead has been shortlisted for Product & Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year at the Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2026.
Recognised as one of the UK's most prestigious business awards, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrate the founders behind the country's most ambitious and innovative businesses. Being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement and marks another exciting milestone in Scayl's journey.
Reflecting on the news, Scott said:
"Being shortlisted for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is a huge honour, but this recognition also belongs to the whole team. We've built Scayl by continually learning, evolving and challenging ourselves to do things differently. Seeing how far we've come makes me incredibly proud, and I'm even more excited about where we're heading next."
From One Machine to Complete Automation Solutions
Scayl's journey began with a simple challenge.
In the early days, we purchased a packaging machine to pack our own tea. That single investment sparked an idea that would eventually become Scayl.
As we learnt more about packaging automation, we realised there was an opportunity to help other businesses improve their own production processes. That vision led to the launch of our Phil range of packaging machinery, giving manufacturers accessible automation solutions that delivered real results.
Since then, we've never stopped evolving.
Today, Scayl supplies everything from standalone filling, weighing and packaging machines to fully bespoke, integrated automation lines designed around each customer's individual requirements.
Continually Growing, Continually Improving
Growth has always been about more than expanding our product range.
Over the last few years we've continued to invest in new technologies, strengthen partnerships with world-leading machinery manufacturers and broaden the range of solutions we can offer our customers.
As customer requirements have become more complex, we've adapted alongside them, developing more advanced automation systems while maintaining the personal, collaborative approach that Scayl is known for.
Every new project teaches us something new, helping us improve, innovate and deliver even better solutions for the businesses we work with.
An Exciting Chapter for Scayl
The past year has been one of the most exciting in our history.
We've expanded our machinery portfolio, delivered larger automation projects, worked alongside some fantastic customers and continued to grow an experienced team that's passionate about helping manufacturers succeed.
That progress was recognised when Scayl won the Innovative Packaging System award at the PPMA Awards, celebrating the creativity and engineering expertise behind one of our automation solutions.
Now, Scott's shortlist at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is another proud moment, not just for him, but for everyone who has contributed to Scayl's success.
Together, these achievements demonstrate the momentum behind the business as we continue establishing ourselves as an exciting emerging competitor within the UK automation and manufacturing industry.
Powered by People
At Scayl, we know that great ideas only become great solutions because of the people behind them.
Whether it's engineering, sales, project management, customer support or operations, every member of the team has helped shape the business we are today.
By continually learning, embracing new challenges and working closely with our customers, we've been able to grow from supplying individual machines to delivering complete automation solutions that transform production facilities across the UK.
Looking Ahead
This shortlist is something we're incredibly proud of, but it's also motivation to keep pushing forward.
We're committed to continuing our growth, expanding our range of automation solutions and helping even more manufacturers improve productivity through innovative, bespoke systems.
As demand for automation continues to grow, we're excited about what's next, and we're just getting started.
David Martin, Sales Director at Scayl, added:
"It's been amazing to see how Scayl has evolved over the years. What started with one machine has grown into a business delivering complete automation solutions for manufacturers across the UK. Every challenge we've taken on has helped us learn, improve and expand what we're capable of delivering. The biggest reason for that success is the people. The whole team has embraced the journey, adapted as we've grown and worked incredibly hard to build something we're all proud of. Scott's shortlist is fantastic recognition, but it's also recognition of everything the team has achieved together."
Congratulations to Scott and the entire Scayl team on this incredible achievement.
From one machine packing our own tea to designing bespoke automation systems for manufacturers across the UK, it's been an amazing journey so far. We can't wait to continue helping businesses grow through smarter automation while writing the next chapter of the Scayl story.
