SCAYL Shortlisted for Three PPMA Awards 2026

SCAYL is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for three Automate UK Awards at PPMA 2026, recognising our continued commitment to innovation across processing, packaging machinery, robotics and automation.

Following our success at last year's PPMA Show, where we won the Innovative Packaging Machinery award, we're delighted to have our work recognised once again across three important areas of the manufacturing and packaging industry.

This year, we have been shortlisted for:

  • Innovative Processing System
  • Innovative Packaging Machinery
  • Innovative Robotics / Automation Solution

Being shortlisted across three categories is a fantastic achievement for the SCAYL team and highlights the breadth of our work in developing innovative machinery and automated production solutions.

What do the three awards recognise?

Each award focuses on a different area of innovation within the processing, packaging and manufacturing industries.

Innovative Processing System

The Innovative Processing System award recognises technology and systems that improve how products are processed as part of a manufacturing operation.

Innovation in processing can take many forms. It could involve increasing production speed, improving accuracy, reducing manual handling, improving product flow or bringing several stages of production together into one more efficient system.

For SCAYL, this category reflects our approach to looking at the wider production process, rather than focusing on one individual machine.

Every manufacturer has different requirements. Product types, production volumes, packaging formats, available space and existing machinery can all influence the solution required.

By combining processing equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery and automation, we can help businesses create more streamlined production systems designed around their individual requirements.

Innovative Packaging Machinery

The Innovative Packaging Machinery category celebrates machinery that introduces a new or improved approach to the packaging process.

Innovation could mean increasing production speed, improving accuracy, reducing manual intervention, improving flexibility or creating a more efficient way of handling and packaging products.

This category is particularly significant for SCAYL because we won the Innovative Packaging Machinery award at the 2025 PPMA Show.

Our award-winning project demonstrated how bespoke packaging machinery and automation can solve a complex production challenge while improving efficiency and output.

Returning to the shortlist in 2026 is therefore a fantastic achievement and demonstrates our continued focus on developing effective packaging machinery for modern manufacturers.

Innovative Robotics / Automation Solution

The Innovative Robotics / Automation Solution category recognises innovative uses of robotics and automation within manufacturing and production environments.

Automation is playing an increasingly important role in modern manufacturing. Businesses are looking for ways to improve productivity, reduce repetitive manual tasks, increase consistency and make better use of their production facilities.

For SCAYL, this category represents our work in integrating robotics, automation and packaging machinery to create smarter production solutions.

Rather than introducing automation simply for the sake of it, we focus on where technology can provide a genuine benefit to the customer's production process.

That could involve automating repetitive tasks, improving product handling, connecting different stages of a production line or creating a fully automated packaging system.

Building on last year's success

PPMA 2025 was a particularly memorable event for SCAYL.

We were delighted to win the Innovative Packaging Machinery award, recognising the innovative packaging solution we developed for our customer, VitForLife.

The project involved creating a bespoke automated counting and packing line that brought multiple stages of the production process together.

The system incorporated counting, bagging, conveying, diverting and boxing, creating a more integrated approach to the packaging process.

The completed line was capable of producing approximately 1,500 finished packs per hour, while reducing manual intervention and maintaining accuracy and consistency.

Winning the award was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the project and demonstrated the potential of combining specialist packaging machinery with automation.

Now, being shortlisted in three categories for 2026 makes this year's PPMA particularly exciting.

Innovation that solves real manufacturing challenges

For SCAYL, innovation isn't simply about developing new technology.

It's about finding better ways to solve real problems faced by manufacturers.

A packaging machine needs to do more than look impressive. It needs to work reliably, integrate into the production environment and deliver the performance the customer needs.

That's why we take the time to understand each customer's products, production requirements and future ambitions before developing the right solution.

Depending on the application, this could involve a single packaging machine, a semi-automated system or a complete automated packaging line.

The role of packaging automation

Packing machine

Packaging automation is becoming increasingly important as manufacturers look for ways to improve productivity and efficiency.

Businesses are facing pressure to increase output while maintaining product quality and controlling costs. Repetitive manual processes can also place demands on production teams and limit the amount a business can produce.

The right automation solution can help address these challenges.

Automated packaging systems can improve consistency, reduce repetitive manual handling, increase production capacity and connect different stages of the packaging process.

However, automation isn't a one size fits all solution.

The most effective systems are designed around the product and the production environment. Factors such as pack size, product characteristics, required output, available floor space and existing equipment all need to be considered.

This is where SCAYL's experience across packaging machinery, processing systems, robotics and automation can help manufacturers find the right approach.

Packaging machinery for a range of industries

SCAYL provides packaging machinery and automation solutions for a variety of products and industries.

Our machinery can be used for applications including:

  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Snacks
  • Powders
  • Seeds
  • Pet food

Different products create different packaging challenges, which is why flexibility and engineering expertise are so important.

Whether a business is looking to improve an existing production process or create a completely new automated packaging line, SCAYL can develop solutions around the specific requirements of the application.

Looking ahead to PPMA 2026

The PPMA Show 2026 takes place from 22–24 September at the NEC Birmingham.

The event brings together companies and professionals from across the processing and packaging industry, providing an opportunity to discover the latest developments in machinery, robotics, automation and production technology.

For SCAYL, PPMA is an important opportunity to meet customers, connect with manufacturers and showcase the latest developments in packaging technology.

This year, we'll also be heading into the event with the excitement of being recognised across three award categories.

Can SCAYL make it two years in a row?

Last year's award win was a proud moment for the entire SCAYL team.

This year, being shortlisted three times is another fantastic achievement and recognition of the hard work, engineering expertise and innovation that goes into our projects.

The nominations demonstrate our continued commitment to developing innovative packaging machinery, processing systems and automation solutions that help manufacturers improve their production processes.

Now we're looking forward to PPMA 2026 and finding out whether we can follow last year's success with another award.

We'll see you at PPMA. 🏆
